The Global Imams & Scholars Council (GISC)

The Global Imams and Scholars Council (GISC) is a platform that unites Muslim Scholars and Imams Councils from around the world, primarily from countries where Muslims are minorities. We come together to address the common values, principles, and concerns of the Muslim Ummah and community, while adhering to the mainstream teachings and understanding of the Quran and Sunnah as guided by the mainstream Ahlu-Sunnah Wal-Jama’a Scholars of the past and present.

The overarching goal of the Global Imams & Scholars Council (GISC) is to enable the global Muslim community to fulfil their primary purpose: the holistic worship of Allah the Almighty (God), through fidelity to the exalted guidance of the Seal of the Prophets, Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). This holistic worship entails two primary objectives:

  1. The performance of worship and adoration of Allah the Almighty (God).
  2. Ethical conduct towards (and service of) His creation.
  3. The removal of internal and external barriers that hinder these goals.

Through providing scholarly leadership, guidance, and support, the GISC aims to establish and sustain theological leadership that empowers the global Muslim community (Ummah) to flourish spiritually, morally, and socially, while contributing positively to wider society.

The British Board of Scholars & Imams (BBSI)

The BBSI is an apolitical national assembly of imams, traditional scholars and religiously learned academics. The BBSI facilitates scholarly intra-Muslim research and dialogue, and provides authoritative ethico-theological guidance and leadership on matters relevant to Muslims, whilst promoting wider community welfare.

The mission of the BBSI is to enable the Muslim community in this country to fulfil their primary purpose: the holistic worship of God- through devotion to Him and service to His creation-by providing scholarly leadership, guidance, and support. This includes removing barriers that hinder worship, fostering ethical conduct, and promoting cross-denominational unity. Through the development of competent scholars and imams, the BBSI aims to establish and sustain theological leadership that empowers the Muslim community to flourish spiritually, morally, and socially, while contributing positively to wider British society.
